The Internal Family Systems Approach
(IFS) is an approach to psychotherapy that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities or parts within each person. Inside each of us is a structure of interwoven and interrelated parts. IFS helps people begin to relate to themselves differently. I use this method to respectfully assist clients in exploring and becoming curious about their inner world and experiences.
The process can transform one’s internal critical voice into a supportive one. It can help one unload feelings of worthlessness. It can help ease chronic pain. Balance and harmony can be restored. We work together to achieve deep and lasting results, a powerful experience that I have been privileged to witness in my clients on numerous occasions.
A Three Step Process
Identify
Through IFS coaching, we will determine together what is most important for you to focus on. Each session will bring clarity to the themes and challenges that arise. The process is flexible—topics can stay consistent or evolve from week to week—allowing your internal system to naturally guide what needs attention. This collaborative exploration moves at your pace and supports genuine self-discovery.
Talk and Listen
You will guide the conversation and choose whatever pace feels right for you. This compassionate and respectful process may include writing, gentle movement, or creative expression to deepen your connection with inner parts. IFS coaching creates space for your whole self to be heard and understood, inviting a sense of safety, openness, and curiosity to unfold in each session.
Deepen Understanding
By using IFS coaching techniques and tools, this process can bring profound insights and positive change. It helps transform long-held patterns of thought and behavior that no longer serve you. Many clients describe feeling lighter, more connected, and more at peace, often reclaiming qualities such as calm, clarity, compassion, confidence, courage, creativity, curiosity, and connectedness.
